Countless composers for a variety of different reasons have set the Kýrie text to music.  My reason?  I find that the text is so simple in nature, but holds such a powerful meaning to so many people that I could not help but create my own setting.  This setting of the Kýrie is used more as a declamation of sorts, in that the text is asking for forgiveness, but is begging for it; in a sense, demanding it.  This is my cry for not just my own forgiveness, but for the salvation of all of humanity.
